Henkel Receives 'Energy Management Insight Award'

Türk Henkel's Ankara Consumer Brands Factory has been awarded the '2024 Energy Management Insight Award'.

This award is presented by the 'Clean Energy Ministerial' (CEM), a global forum established to support programmes designed to advance clean energy technology, promote the transition to a clean energy economy worldwide, and share acquired experience.

Türk Henkel has become the first company in Turkey and within Henkel's global structure to receive this prestigious award.

Türk Henkel's Ankara Consumer Brands Factory earned the award by establishing an energy management system certified according to the global ISO 50001 Standard and successfully managing the process.

Another key factor in the award was the preparation of a detailed case study to present insights about the gains of the energy management process.

Özgür Dilmen shared his satisfaction at receiving the award with the following words: "As Türk Henkel, we feel great pride in being the first company in Turkey to receive this prestigious award. With this award we have won, we have come one step closer to our target of sourcing 100% of our electricity from renewable sources by 2030, which we set within the scope of our '2030+ Sustainability Targets Framework'. I believe that the award we have received will serve as a strong symbol of Türk Henkel's commitment to environmental responsibility and energy efficiency, and will provide us with great motivation on our journey towards a more sustainable future."

Türk Henkel conducted intensive work for five years within the scope of ISO 50001 energy management activities at the Ankara Consumer Brands Factory. Within this framework, regression models were created to enable the monitoring of energy performance. These models were improved each year to become more effective. As a result, the factory gained the capability to monitor energy performance across all departments on a daily basis and to take rapid action. Furthermore, employees were informed about developments through an energy bulletin published each month. This platform, where energy performance, projects and sectoral developments are shared, became a communication tool. Additionally, as a first in Turkey, the factory carried out its own energy audits with its own energy audit specialist, and this way identified energy efficiency opportunities. A schedule was created within the scope of cost-benefit analyses for these identified opportunities, and energy efficiency projects were implemented step by step, with current performance continuously improved. As a result, the factory's energy performance was improved by 32% during this five-year period. During the same period, a total of 12,960 MWh of energy was saved and 3,820 tonnes of carbon emissions were reduced.

Türk Henkel's Ankara Consumer Brands Factory had previously achieved third place in Turkey in the 'Project Competition for Increased Energy Efficiency in Industry', conducted annually by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources to raise awareness of energy efficiency, with a project it had developed.
