Sika has completed the acquisition of Akkim, a Türkiye-based manufacturer of sealants and adhesives. The strategic acquisition strengthens Sika’s global position in sealants and adhesives while expanding its production capacity, distribution network and geographic reach, paving the way for new growth opportunities.

Sika, which operates in specialty chemicals for the construction and industrial sectors, has completed the acquisition process of Türkiye-based Akkim. With Akkim, which has a broad product portfolio in sealants and adhesives, joining Sika, the company aims to strengthen its presence particularly in Eastern Europe, Central Asia, the Middle East and North Africa markets.

Akkim generated net sales revenue of approximately CHF 220 million in 2025, demonstrating strong growth performance in the markets where it operates. The company operates with an extensive distribution network and a broad customer base in regional markets with high growth potential.

Production capacity and R&D competence will support Sika’s global network
The product portfolio, based on proprietary formulations developed by Akkim’s strong R&D team, offers bonding and sealing solutions for various application areas in the construction sector. The company’s production infrastructure, export capability and regional market experience are expected to create significant synergy with Sika’s existing operations.

With the acquisition, Akkim’s production capacity is expected to be leveraged as an important production and supply hub for Sika’s sealants and adhesives business unit. This structure is expected to contribute to Sika serving its regional customers more effectively, strengthening the supply chain, and capitalizing on growth opportunities in new markets.

“An important milestone”
Commenting on the completion of the acquisition, Sika EMEA Regional Manager Christoph Ganz stated that Akkim joining the Sika family is an important step for the company’s growth strategy in sealants and adhesives.

Ganz said, “Akkim joining the Sika family is an important milestone for our growth strategy in sealants and adhesives. By bringing together our strong brands, complementary product portfolios and talented teams, we will deliver more value to our customers and capitalize on growth opportunities in new markets. We are delighted to welcome the Akkim team into the Sika family, and we are excited to build a strong future together,” he said.

Through the acquisition, Sika aims to complement its existing adhesives and sealants solutions portfolio with Akkim’s product and production capabilities, and to more effectively capitalize on growth potential, particularly in emerging markets.
