TÜRKÇİMENTO Held a Concrete Seminar and Hands-On Workshop at Trakya University

TÜRKÇİMENTO held a Concrete Seminar and Concrete Applications Workshop Program at Trakya University with the aim of strengthening university-industry cooperation and contributing to young people's knowledge in cement and concrete technologies. The program, organized in cooperation with Çimentaş and Çimbeton on October 20, 2026, was attended by 50 students. Participants experienced different types of concrete and produced samples.

The program, hosted by Trakya University, began with an opening speech by TÜRKÇİMENTO Education Officer Zeynep Aygün Hazer.

At the event, TÜRKÇİMENTO Technical Assistant Barış Akbelen delivered a presentation titled “Innovative Cement and Concrete Technologies for Sustainable Structures.” The presentation covered the basic components of concrete, its properties and durability as a building material, as well as information on the development of concrete technologies from the past to the present.

Çimbeton Raw Materials and R&D Manager Kadir Akyüz introduced innovative concrete types such as antibacterial, permeable, and electricity-conducting concrete in his presentation titled “Designing with Concrete.” Conveying information on concrete technologies with different setting times and strength properties, Akyüz also shared global trends in the sector with the participants.

Students experienced concrete production hands-on

Following the seminars, a hands-on workshop was held in the courtyard of Trakya University's Faculty of Architecture. In the study, accompanied by the Çimentaş and Çimbeton team, students prepared different types of concrete and produced samples.

Through the hands-on study, students had the opportunity to put the theoretical knowledge they gained in the seminars into practice and to become more closely acquainted with different concrete technologies.

Through the education and application programs it carries out with universities, TÜRKÇİMENTO aims to develop the sectoral knowledge and experience of young people and to strengthen university-industry cooperation in the field of cement and concrete technologies.
