GREEN Chemicals A.Ş. Supports the 4th Istanbul Carbon Summit

GREEN Chemicals, which received the "Low Carbon Hero Award" last year for its "Color Removal Polymer - WASTE-Treat® 91100" project and achieved an important first, will support the Istanbul Carbon Summit this year as Communication Sponsor.
In the research and development laboratories of GREEN Chemicals, with the aim of reducing the amount of organic matter, color and chemical oxygen demand (COD) values rising in receiving environments following the discharge of industrial wastewater, and leaving a greener and cleaner world for future generations, a polymer was synthesized that would also reduce electricity and fuel consumption at wastewater treatment facilities, was easy to apply, environmentally sensitive and had a low carbon footprint, thus qualifying for the "Low Carbon Hero Award".
WASTE-Treat®91100, produced at the company's facility located in the Kocaeli TAYSAD Organized Industrial Zone, is currently being applied to textile and organized industrial wastewater, as well as many other types of industrial wastewater.
With the application of the color removal polymer to high organic-load wastewater from these facilities, it was determined that the organic load in the water discharged from treatment plants using the product to receiving environments (streams, rivers, lakes, seas, etc.) was reduced by 50 percent. Additionally, biological treatment, one of the process stages of treatment facilities, was reduced with the color removal polymer chemical, thereby contributing to the reduction of the energy required for aeration of the biological process and lowering the facility's carbon footprint. Furthermore, due to its property of reacting rapidly with wastewater, this product can be used without requiring any energy consumption by dosing it into the wastewater line and providing hydraulic mixing instead of dosing into rapid mixing tanks, which is a costly method at the relevant facilities, thereby reducing the facility's carbon footprint at this stage. GREEN Chemicals sustainability managers, explaining their vision, stated that throughout the project they did not limit themselves to only the production phase of the product, but after its production and reaching the end user, they track the greenhouse gas emissions caused by the color removal polymer product and minimize the carbon footprint. They noted that as the product resulting from color removal polymer synthesis reaches most treatment facilities, they aim to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions resulting from electricity consumption in the operation of wastewater treatment facilities and leave a cleaner and greener world for future generations.Advertisement
