DuPont Announces Winners of the Third Annual Tyvek® Sustainable Healthcare Packaging Awards
The awards recognize ongoing excellence in healthcare packaging initiatives that use Tyvek® material, with the aim of driving and encouraging sustainable innovation.

DuPont (NYSE: DD) announced the winners of its global awards program, the Tyvek® Sustainable Healthcare Packaging Awards, during the Medical Packaging Conference (MPC), hosted by DuPont in Boston from September 30 to October 2, 2026. Now in its third year, the awards program recognizes leaders in the healthcare industry who embrace and drive sustainability throughout the packaging lifecycle.

The three 2026 winners, who use healthcare packaging made with DuPont™ Tyvek® material and whose work demonstrates a strong focus on sustainability across three award categories, are as follows:

Package (Re)Design: Plastic Ingenuity
Plastic Ingenuity developed a new ready-to-use (RTU) tray and lid platform made from recycled PuraForm™ 134 polyester as an alternative to injection-molded polystyrene. Paired with Tyvek®, the design reduces plastic use by 15 percent while maintaining recyclability, and prevents 217 metric tons of CO2e emissions per 1 million units. This solution helps manufacturers implement a more sustainable solution made from materials that generate fewer particulates.

Operational Efficiencies: Coligroup Spa
Coligroup redesigned traditional suture packaging to eliminate an entire material layer while maintaining full sterility. The solution relies on an aluminum inner pouch fitted with a strip made solely of Tyvek®, allowing sterilization gas to fully penetrate the packaging and eliminating the need for a second outer layer. This reduces material, labor, and sterilization costs by up to 35 percent.

Sustainability in Use: Nelipak Healthcare Packaging
Nelipak Healthcare Packaging developed bags called Ecovate™, an all-polyethylene laminate that combines mono-axially oriented PE (MOPE) with Renewably Attributed Tyvek®, replacing the mixed-material laminates that are common in the fill/use ready (RTF/U) market. The single-material structure has been certified as recyclable by Institut Cyclos-HTP, and when end-of-life recycling is factored in, it can reduce the product's greenhouse gas footprint by up to 40 percent, helping advance packaging circularity in the growing RTF/U market.

Lesley Aulick, Global Business Director of DuPont™ Tyvek® Roll Products, said, "This year's winners show that progress in sustainable healthcare packaging is being achieved through practical design choices, operational improvements, and scalable material innovations." "We are honored that Tyvek® plays a role in these initiatives; while protecting products and helping ensure patient safety, we remain committed to continuously advancing circularity, reducing environmental impact, and supporting sustainability goals."

The Tyvek® Sustainable Healthcare Packaging Awards program also supports the Tyvek® Healthcare Packaging team's efforts to advance DuPont's global strategy, which is based on working throughout the supply chain to enable a more circular economy.

The awards program is open to all medical device and/or pharmaceutical manufacturers, sterile packaging manufacturers, healthcare facilities, universities, material recovery facilities, or other healthcare companies focused on sustainable packaging made with DuPont™ Tyvek® material. The next application period is expected to open in 2027; more information on how to apply, as well as current and previous winners, can be found on the Tyvek® Sustainable Healthcare Packaging Awards website.

DuPont™, the DuPont Oval Logo, and Tyvek® are trademarks owned by affiliates of DuPont de Nemours, Inc. PuraForm™ is owned by Plastic Ingenuity. Ecovate™ is owned by Nelipak Healthcare Packaging.
