TRAI Takes Step to Advance Turkey's Artificial Intelligence System

The Turkey Artificial Intelligence Initiative (TRAI), established to increase artificial intelligence awareness in Turkey, develop its ecosystem, and contribute significantly to Turkey's participation in the global AI race, established four advisory boards as of 2021 to consult and advise on its work: Technology, Private Sector, Academia, and Investment. (https://turkiye.ai/) Having held their first meetings, the TRAI Advisory Boards placed on their agenda what can be done to develop the areas of application of artificial intelligence and to disseminate the value it adds. The Technology Advisory Board was established to follow trends, technologies and innovations in the artificial intelligence world; to determine TRAI's technology agenda and to examine and make recommendations on objectives, targets and priorities for the technology sector. (https://turkiye.ai/hakkimizda/teknoloji-danisma-kurulu/) At the first meeting of the TRAI Technology Advisory Board held on 26 January 2021, topics including measuring the impact and economic scope of artificial intelligence, open data sharing, and increasing artificial intelligence awareness were discussed.

The Private Sector Advisory Board was established to identify artificial intelligence potential in different sectors, determine sectors' needs in the context of artificial intelligence, and develop solution proposals for these needs. (https://turkiye.ai/hakkimizda/sektorel-danisma-kurulu/)

  The TRAI Private Sector Advisory Board held its first meeting on 27 January. At this meeting, topics such as talent and capacity in the field of artificial intelligence, the importance of disseminating artificial intelligence awareness among small and medium-sized enterprises, how women can be more actively involved in the technology world, and increasing artificial intelligence awareness in the media were addressed.   2021 Term Private Sector Advisory Board Members:

  The Academic Advisory Board was established to evaluate artificial intelligence developments and requirements in the academic world as well as the interaction and cooperation of the academic world with other stakeholders. (https://turkiye.ai/hakkimizda/akademik-danisma-kurulu/)   At the first meeting of the Academic Advisory Board held on 27 January, the importance of undergraduate artificial intelligence programs beginning to open in Turkey, how academia-industry cooperation can be expanded, and what can be done to develop Turkey's artificial intelligence ecosystem and economy were discussed.

The Investor Committee was established to provide input on investment and development flows and priorities in the context of artificial intelligence, to evaluate how artificial intelligence investments in Turkey can develop, and to support activities related to the entrepreneurship ecosystem. (https://turkiye.ai/hakkimizda/yatirimci-komitesi/) At the first meeting of the TRAI Investor Committee held on 29 January, topics including how to strengthen the TRAI ecosystem's international connections, how mentoring activities can develop the ecosystem, and promoting the work of artificial intelligence startups were discussed. 2021 Term Investor Committee Members:
