Global manufacturer Milliken & Company has released its third annual corporate sustainability report, "Together for Tomorrow." The report analyzes Milliken's performance through the lens of comprehensive sustainability efforts and highlights progress toward the company's 2025 sustainability targets, established in 2018. Covering people, products, and planet, the report demonstrates the company's commitment to creating a positive impact on the world for generations to come.   Milliken President and CEO Halsey Cook states: "Together, we faced the critical moments of 2020. We mobilized production lines, launched new innovations, and brought our team together to improve our sustainability metrics in 10 of 12 strategic categories. Our sustainability initiatives are gaining momentum and fundamentally transforming our business." As a materials science expert serving the chemical, flooring, textiles, and healthcare sectors, Milliken's stakeholders review the company's progress annually, and their reports and findings shape this report. Completed in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative framework, Together for Tomorrow is presented to the public as a digital experience with downloadable content.   In 2020, Milliken achieved significant progress on its planet, product, and people targets, including:
  • Doubling its commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the face of social unrest,
  • Focusing development and production processes to aid COVID-19 response efforts by manufacturing medical-grade fabric gowns, face shields, and flooring to support social distancing initiatives,
  • Prioritizing employee safety, particularly for essential workers, by advancing the company's safety culture first during the pandemic,
  • Supporting the plastic circularity discussion by convening thought leaders to illuminate actionable ecosystem solutions hosted by National Geographic Creative Works,
  • Continuing capital investment to eliminate coal as a primary fuel source, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions and waste,
  • Acquiring Borchers—Milliken's largest acquisition to date—which will scale the company's coatings additives platform in ways that reduce solvents and environmental impact, and
  • Launching the Milliken Leadership Model to equip employees with purposeful growth leadership capabilities.
