Vehbi Koç Foundation's New Exhibition Space "Meşher"
The Vehbi Koç Foundation (VKV), celebrating its 50th anniversary, is opening a new cultural and arts institution called "Meşher" in the Meymenet Han building on İstiklal Caddesi, which hosted Arter between 2010 and 2019. Named Meşher – meaning exhibition space in Ottoman Turkish – the institution will support the initiation of new dialogues between eras and cultures through comprehensive exhibitions ranging from historical research to contemporary art, as well as event series such as workshops and conferences.
With 500 square metres of exhibition space spread across three floors and 75 square metres of activity space for events, the exhibitions at Meşher will also serve as a reference point through its programme covering diverse subjects within a broad timespan spanning from the Middle Ages to the present day, its research-based academic approach, and its publications. Meşher, where visits, events and exhibition tours will be free of charge, will be open for visits six days a week, closed Mondays.
