"Recognize Heart Failure Early" Information Meeting Held

An informational meeting titled "Early Diagnosis of Heart Failure" was held at Gaziantep University Şahinbey Research and Practice Hospital. The meeting, organized under the leadership of Gaziantep University Hospital Chief Medical Officer Assoc. Prof. Suat Zengin and Department of Cardiology Chair Prof. Murat Sucu to raise awareness of heart failure and provide information on treatment methods, was attended by physicians, hospital staff, patients and their relatives. Heart failure, a highly prevalent disease, occurs when the heart's reduced performance prevents it from delivering sufficient blood to tissues and organs. The main symptoms of the disease include shortness of breath while lying down and during exercise, leg edema or quick fatigue. Cough, loss of appetite, palpitations, frequent nighttime urination and fatigue can also be indicators of heart failure. Noting that heart failure can lead to deterioration in quality of life and result in death if left untreated, Prof. Murat Sucu stated that the disease can be brought under control through early diagnosis, close monitoring and appropriate treatment. Emphasizing that significant advances have been made in heart failure treatment, Prof. Murat Sucu said, "We can provide all types of treatment at Gaziantep University Hospital. Our goal in treatment is to prevent deaths and hospital admissions caused by heart failure while working to increase patients' exercise capacity and quality of life." After answering patients' questions, Sucu announced that they will continue to organize informational meetings to raise awareness about heart failure. Gaziantep University Hospital Chief Medical Officer Assoc. Prof. Suat Zengin stated, "Recently, our hospital has been organizing informational meetings to draw attention to chronic diseases such as heart failure, diabetes and celiac disease and to raise public awareness. Our aim with these meetings is to share current developments regarding chronic diseases and treatment methods with patients and their relatives and to always support them in improving their quality of life." New treatments for heart failure continue to be developed with the aim of enabling patients to live longer and better quality lives.
