HOUSE OF BROTHERS LOUNGE at Contemporary İstanbul

House of Brothers Lounge will feature works by Esra Gülmen at this year's 19th edition of Contemporary Istanbul… 

23 - 27 October Pernod Ricard Türkiye, known for its support of the arts, will again be among the partners at Contemporary Istanbul, which will meet art enthusiasts with its 19th edition. House of Brothers Lounge, where Pernod Ricard Türkiye brings art lovers together, will be one of the fair's most striking areas with works by Esra Gülmen.  

House of Brothers Lounge, one of Contemporary Istanbul's essential meeting points, will come together this year with artist Esra Gülmen, known for works creating an ironic and creative language. Gülmen will present her works, to be exhibited in Turkey for the first time at House of Brothers Lounge, curated by culture and arts writer Osman Can Yerebakan. 

Among the works to be featured at House of Brothers Lounge throughout Contemporary Istanbul, Controversy Teeter / Totter, Istanbul will showcase the uniqueness of the city that allows contradictions to coexist. In the House of Brothers Lounge-specific design of the installation published by Esra Gülmen in Berlin and Austria, the emphasis will be on contradictions reaching balance and existing together.  

Curator Osman Can Yerebakan, who says "Each seesaw is a microcosm of Istanbul, where no moment resembles another, full of puzzles," notes that the work has the character of a love song for Istanbul. The work offers to eyes capable of seeing beyond the surface a world of overlapping dualities rather than conflicts.  

On the exterior of House of Brothers Lounge, Esra Gülmen's Ne Seninle, Ne Sensiz (Neither With Nor Without You), positioned against Istanbul's sky and the Golden Horn, will be displayed. The mirrored work, which will also reflect the surrounding landscape, will embody seemingly contradictory feelings such as belonging to a place or person and separation. While containing both a statement and introspection, the work discusses the possibility of a third path in which possession and letting go are blended.  

House of Brothers Lounge will be open to VIP visitors on 23 October and to all Contemporary Istanbul visitors on 24 - 27 October. Throughout the fair at Tersane Istanbul, art enthusiasts will be able to follow events and House of Brothers-exclusive content on Brothers1801 accounts.
