"Don't Look Away—The Schizophrenia Journey from Prehistory to Today" Opens to Istanbul Visitors

DenizBank hosted the exhibition "Don't Look Away—The Schizophrenia Journey from Prehistory to Today," organized in collaboration with Abdi İbrahim Otsuka to raise awareness of schizophrenia. The fourth guest exhibition at GaleriDeniz, "Don't Look Away—The Schizophrenia Journey from Prehistory to Today," offers a perspective from ancient times to the present, examining the history of schizophrenia. It explores the methods used in the diagnosis and treatment of this disease, which affects approximately 600,000 people in Turkey and 51 million worldwide, alongside the evolution of science and societies' approaches to the subject.DenizBank General Manager Hakan Ateş, stating that the Don't Look Away exhibition is a project that takes visitors on a historical journey to understand schizophrenia as a human affliction, beginning with human stories from 5,000 years ago and extending to the present day, said: "The Don't Look Away exhibition offers us a new space of experience for understanding schizophrenia.

Because in this exhibition, rather than being viewers, we participate as visitors to the mind, nature, sensory and mental experiences of a schizophrenia patient. We see the evolution, change and transformation of the disease and its accompanying treatment methods, and most importantly, we can develop empathy with this world."
