Ancient Cities Being Reconstructed

"Umay Museum Design and Technologies," operating within the Anatolia Technology Research Park (ATAP), continues its R&D work to deliver world-standard museums by bringing together different artistic disciplines with technology. Operating within ATAP through a partnership between Anadolu University Faculty of Fine Arts Faculty Member Prof. Rıdvan Coşkun and Cüneyt Şenyavaş, "Umay Museum Design and Technologies" continues its R&D work. Umay Museum, Turkey's first R&D center working on reviving historical locations through virtual reality and augmented reality, brings together art and history with technology through its "Vrkronos" virtual reality project. In this context, the ancient cities of Amorium and Kyzikos and the Muradiye Madrasa were revived using virtual and mixed reality technologies to contribute to Turkey's cultural tourism. The Eskişehir Karacahisar Castle Virtual Reality application, which will be published shortly, is being carried out under the coordination of the Turkish Historical Society, with Dr. Hasan Yılmazyaşar, Faculty Member of the Department of Art History at Anadolu University's Faculty of Literature and Excavation Director, as the principal investigator.

"Not only in museology"

Prof. Rıdvan Coşkun, noting that Umay Museum has served as an R&D and education center for students from Anadolu University and regional universities since its establishment, stated: "In a short time, we have become a center that adds value to our country. We are carrying out design and implementation projects for many museums. Not only in the field of museology, but we also conduct R&D work on research, design and software related to 'metaverse,' known as the 'virtual universe' where users can participate in three-dimensional form through NFT platforms. We carry out these activities through blockchain technologies. We have a structure open to learning. We operate like a school. We also support entrepreneurial students who come up with new ideas in this field," he said.   Source
