Tetra Pak Reduces Greenhouse Gas Emissions by 34%

Tetra Pak announced its progress toward its climate targets in its 2025 Sustainability Report. The company reduced greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain by 34% compared to 2019, while cutting emissions from its own operations by 56%.

Tetra Pak disclosed progress toward climate targets in its 2025 Sustainability Report, reducing greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain by 34 percent compared to 2019, while cutting operational emissions by 56 percent.

Tetra Pak, one of the world's leading food processing and packaging solutions companies, published its 27th Sustainability Report. The report shared the company's efforts to combat climate change, improve resource efficiency, advance circular economy practices and strengthen food system resilience, along with its sustainability performance.

In 2025, Tetra Pak achieved a 34 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain compared to the 2019 baseline year, while reducing emissions from its own operations by 56 percent. Over the same period, renewable energy use reached 97 percent.

With these results, the company continued its progress toward long-term climate targets while accelerating efforts to strengthen the resilience of global food systems.

"We are focused on strengthening food system resilience"
Tetra Pak President and CEO Adolfo Orive highlighted the importance of sustainable food systems for the future, stating:

"In today's environment of increasing environmental risks, feeding a growing global population is becoming more complex than ever. For this reason, we remain committed to strengthening the resilience of global food systems. 2025 was a year in which we achieved significant progress, including reaching the milestone of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by one-third across our value chain. We believe lasting transformation is only possible through collaboration. Working together with our customers and business partners, we will continue to translate our sustainability targets into concrete results."

Comprehensive assessment of climate and nature risks
In 2025, Tetra Pak conducted its first integrated climate and nature risks and opportunities assessment. As part of this effort, the company identified priority risk and opportunity areas that could strengthen resilience across its operations and value chain, developing action plans accordingly.

The company also updated its Approach to Nature framework to adapt to changing global sustainability dynamics, setting new targets and revising existing ones.

Resource efficiency through digitalization and innovation
Tetra Pak continued developing next-generation automation and digital solutions to help customers reduce their energy, material and resource consumption.

As part of this, the company deployed the Tetra Pak® Factory OS™ platform, which stands out for its modular and scalable architecture. The system helps better analyze losses in production processes, increase operational efficiency and optimize resource use.

The company also strengthened its innovation investments by opening a new Product Development Center in Cholet, France, a Customer Innovation Center in Bangkok, Thailand, and a New Food Technologies Development Center in Karlshamn, Sweden.

EUR 100 million investment in packaging innovations
Tetra Pak invested approximately EUR 100 million in research and development efforts to improve the environmental performance of its packaging.

As a result of these investments, a paper barrier technology developed as an industry first was used in fruit juice packaging, delivering a 43 percent lower carbon footprint compared to traditional aluminum foil layer aseptic packaging.

School meal support for 68 million children
The company continued its work in sustainable development and social impact. In 2025, school nutrition programs helped reach 68 million children in 52 countries with milk and various beverages.

This figure represents two million more children reached and three additional countries compared to the previous year.

Tetra Pak also conducted a comprehensive assessment of human rights impacts while expanding restoration work carried out under the Araucaria Protection Project. In 2025 alone, more than 1,600 hectares of new land were added to the project, with the total land under restoration more than doubling within a year.

Advancing toward net zero target
Tetra Pak aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from its value chain by 46 percent by 2030, achieve 100 percent renewable electricity use in its operations, and reach net zero emissions by 2050.

The company continues advancing toward these targets through investments supporting sustainable food systems development, innovation efforts and collaborations.
