Tiryaki Agro Makes Strategic Logistics Move in the Horn of Africa

Tiryaki Agro, which operates globally in the agricultural products supply chain, has entered into a significant partnership as part of its growth strategy in the Horn of Africa. The company signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Djibouti Ports and Free Zones Authority (DPFZA) for the development of the Port of Tadjourah.

Tiryaki Agro, a global player in the agricultural products supply chain sector, has signed a significant partnership in line with its growth strategy in the Horn of Africa. The company has concluded a Memorandum of Understanding with the Djibouti Ports and Free Zones Authority (DPFZA) regarding the development of Tadjourah Port.

Under the agreement, the parties will jointly conduct technical, commercial and operational work on port modernization, strengthening logistics infrastructure, increasing storage capacity and developing future operational models.

Upon successful completion of the memorandum process, the project aims to develop agricultural products and bulk cargo handling capacity, strengthen regional storage infrastructure and improve the efficiency of trade flows in East Africa.

A New Gateway for Regional Trade in the Horn of Africa
Located on the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, Djibouti stands out as a strategic connection point between Africa, the Middle East and global markets. With the development of Tadjourah Port, the project aims to strengthen logistics access particularly to regional countries including Ethiopia, increase supply chain resilience and support East Africa's integration into global trade networks.

Tiryaki Agro's experience in agricultural products supply chains, logistics, storage and international trade are among the key factors enhancing the project's strategic value. The partnership is viewed as an important step toward the company's long-term growth objectives in East Africa.

Strategic Partnership with IFC Support
The Tadjourah Port project represents a continuation of the partnership developed within the framework of the International Finance Corporation's (IFC) efforts to strengthen Djibouti's strategic role in regional trade and food security in the Horn of Africa.

IFC's support in feasibility studies, planning and stakeholder management contributes to the project's foundational preparation stages.

Süleyman Tiryakioğlu: "A Key Milestone for Our Long-Term Vision"
Tiryaki Agro Chief Executive Officer Süleyman Tiryakioğlu commented on the agreement as follows:

"The signing of this memorandum represents an important milestone for our long-term vision regarding Djibouti. We are pleased to bring this partnership to life, which will contribute to Tadjourah Port's regional trade and logistics transit role, with the valuable contributions of the Government of Djibouti, the Djibouti Ports and Free Zones Authority and the IFC. In the subsequent phases of the project, we aim to continue our work supporting regional trade, food security and sustainable economic development."

A New Era for Tadjourah Port
The memorandum of understanding establishes an important foundation for jointly conducting investment model, technical feasibility studies and operational structure processes.

Upon completion of the process, Tadjourah Port is expected to become one of the Horn of Africa's important centers in terms of agricultural trade, logistics operations and supply chain management.
