At Foodist İstanbul 2026, Cargill showcased its functional systems and co-development approach that help food manufacturers manage diverse objectives together, such as cost optimization, clean label, nutrition, product performance and speed to market.
Cargill, which operates on a global scale in the food and agriculture sectors, came together with industrial food manufacturers at Foodist İstanbul 2026, held between September 1-4, 2026 at the Tüyap Fair and Congress Center.
At the fair, which brought together manufacturers, suppliers, wholesalers, retail purchasing representatives and industry professionals, Cargill highlighted the functional system solutions it has developed in line with changing consumer expectations and production needs, along with its application expertise and co-development approach.
Food manufacturers are managing multiple objectives simultaneously
The needs faced by manufacturers in the food industry are not limited to meeting taste and quality expectations for products alone. Different objectives such as increasing cost pressure, clean label demand, improving nutritional profile, production efficiency and increasing speed to market need to be evaluated together within the same formulation.
Requirements such as sugar reduction, protein and fiber enrichment, clean label, cost optimization, texture and mouthfeel enhancement, and improvement of stability and shelf life are also gaining increasing importance in product development processes.
To address these needs, Cargill brings together over 40 years of functional systems experience, a wide ingredient portfolio and technical application expertise.
Supporting product performance with tailored functional systems
Cargill's functional systems are developed by combining different ingredients in proportions suited to specific product and performance goals. The systems are adapted according to customers' needs and production processes, contributing to consistency, flexibility and production efficiency in products.
Within the scope of this approach, different parameters such as sensory experience, texture, mouthfeel, stability, label-friendly solutions and production efficiency are evaluated within the overall performance of the product.
In this way, manufacturers can develop formulations that respond to different consumer expectations and market opportunities while also taking into account the requirements of production processes.
From idea to production at the INFUSE Application Center
Cargill's INFUSE Application Center, located in the Orhangazi district of Bursa, plays an important role in product development work carried out together with manufacturers.
At the center, recipes for different applications can be tested, particularly for dairy beverages, yogurt, cheese, cream, desserts and plant-based products. Here, manufacturers have the opportunity to evaluate the performance of ingredients and simulate industrial production conditions on a small scale before commercial production.
This approach provides technical support to manufacturers during the stages of developing new products and optimizing formulations, while also contributing to moving ideas more quickly into the commercialization process.
"The most effective solutions are developed through close collaboration"
Cem Beysel, Cargill Food META Functional Systems and Strategy Senior Director, stated that Foodist İstanbul 2026 is an important platform for coming together with industry stakeholders and evaluating new collaborations.
Beysel described Cargill's approach with the following words:
"We believe that the most effective solutions are developed through close collaboration. By bringing together our functional systems expertise, application knowledge and innovation capabilities, we evaluate different formulation options together with manufacturers, test ideas, and develop solutions aligned with their product, production and business objectives."
Beysel also stated that during the fair they had the opportunity to listen more closely to the needs of industry stakeholders and evaluate new opportunities for long-term collaborations.

Also offering solutions to chocolate and confectionery manufacturers
At Foodist İstanbul 2026, in addition to its functional systems portfolio, Cargill also came together with chocolate and confectionery manufacturers.
In discussions addressing changing consumer preferences, product quality and production requirements, solutions were evaluated regarding how Cargill's industrial chocolate portfolio and application expertise could help manufacturers develop products aligned with market trends that provide consistent performance and efficiency.
With its extensive product range and technical expertise, spanning from functional systems to industrial chocolate solutions, Cargill continues to support food manufacturers in responding to changing market conditions more quickly and effectively.
