Nippon Paint Group Acquires AkzoNobel’s Decorative Paints Business in Southeast Asia
Nippon Paint Group, which also includes Filli Boya within its structure, has signed an agreement to acquire AkzoNobel’s decorative paints business in seven countries as part of its global growth strategy. Covering Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Australia and Papua New Guinea, the agreement aims to strengthen the group’s presence and operational power in international markets.

Nippon Paint Group, which acquired Betek—operating under the Filli Boya brand in Türkiye—in 2019, has taken a new step in line with its global growth strategy. The acquisition agreement, covering AkzoNobel’s decorative paints operations in Southeast Asia and Oceania, stands out as part of the group’s goal to expand its market access across different geographies.

The transaction is planned to be completed following the receipt of necessary regulatory approvals and the fulfillment of closing conditions.

Türkiye positioned as a strategic hub in regional operations
Nippon Paint Group strengthened its presence in the Turkish paint market by acquiring Betek in 2019. Betek, which also owns the Filli Boya brand, has taken on an important role in the group’s regional structuring.

Following this acquisition, Türkiye was positioned as a strategic hub for production, innovation and R&D activities serving operations in Kazakhstan, Egypt and surrounding geographies. This was aimed at enhancing the group’s operational competence and market access capacity in the region.

Operational efficiency target in global growth
With the new acquisition agreement, Nippon Paint Group aims to expand its strong brands, customer relationships, dealer and retail networks, production capabilities and human resources.

With the addition of operations in different markets to the group, the aim is to increase operational efficiency in key regions and strengthen competitiveness in the global paint industry.

Nippon Paint Group’s new move regarding AkzoNobel’s decorative paints operations, following its expansion of regional presence through the Betek investment in Türkiye, represents a continuation of the group’s international growth strategy.
