İKMİB Honors Leading Chemical Exporters
Chemistry, one of Turkey's three largest export-generating sectors, achieved USD 16.1 billion in exports in 2017. The Istanbul Chemical Substances and Products Exporters Association (İKMİB) honoured its members with the highest export volumes last year for their accomplishments.
At the 2017 İKMİB Stars of Exports Awards ceremony held at Raffles Istanbul Zorlu Center, 120 award winners were announced across 24 categories.
İKMİB, representing more than 10,000 exporting companies across different chemical subsectors—from plastics to cosmetics, pharmaceuticals to rubber, medical products to paints and coatings—recognised sector representatives who generated USD 16.1 billion in exports during 2017. The chemistry sector, which takes the pulse of Turkish industry and creates employment for over 300,000 people, set an export target of USD 18 billion for 2018. The chemistry sector achieved USD 1 billion 565 million in exports in March, representing a 23.5 per cent increase compared to February, and reached USD 4 billion 186 million in exports during the first three months of the year, marking a 1.85 per cent increase compared to the same period last year.
