Chemical Industry Meeting Point: GEBKİM Chemical Specialty Organized Industrial Zone Hosts Kazakhstan Delegation

GEBKİM Chemical Specialty Organized Industrial Zone hosted a delegation led by Kazakhstan Ankara Ambassador Abzal Saparbekuly and Almaty Region Deputy Governor Serik Turdaliyev. The Kazakh delegation, which toured GEBKİM OSB and received information about ongoing activities, also held meetings with companies operating in GEBKİM OSB. At the meeting attended by GEBKİM Chemical Specialty OSB Board Chairman Vefa İbrahim Aracı and GEBKİM Board Members, information was shared about investment opportunities in Kazakhstan, the shining star of Central Asia with its rapidly developing dynamic economy. Kazakhstan Ankara Ambassador Abzal Saparbekuly and Almaty Region Deputy Governor Serik Turdaliyev, leading the Kazakh delegation, held discussions during their visit to GEBKİM Chemical Specialty OSB aimed at developing trade and cooperation between the two countries. At the meeting organized at GEBKİM OSB, GEBKİM management provided delegation representatives with information about activities conducted at the OSB, which exemplifies the chemical industry through its modern infrastructure, equipment and opportunities offered to its members. During the visit, which also included bilateral meetings with GEBKİM companies, a presentation was made on investment and trade opportunities in Kazakhstan. The meeting held at GEBKİM OSB was also broadcast online. Almaty Region Deputy Governor Serik Turdaliyev noted that many international companies have invested in Almaty, where industry has developed very rapidly over the past five years, and said that visiting GEBKİM OSB and listening to its experience and expertise was an important opportunity. Turdaliyev stated that they received positive views on investment in Kazakhstan during their meetings in Turkey.   Kazakhstan Ankara Ambassador Abzal Saparbekuly, during the delegation's visit to GEBKİM Chemical Specialty OSB as part of their working tour, said that Kazakhstan offers significant investment opportunities for Turkish companies. Abzal Saparbekuly noted that 65 percent of investments in Central Asia are made in Kazakhstan, and that interest from Turkish investors in Kazakhstan, which attracts annual average investments of USD 21 billion, is also high. He also noted that despite the decline due to the pandemic, Turkey was one of only three countries showing an increase of 8 percent in 2020. The Ambassador also discussed the advantages of investing in Kazakhstan, which is located at the intersection of East and West.   Director of Almaty Region Entrepreneurship and Industry and Innovative Development Department Tamerlan Razbekov delivered a presentation on "Investment and Trade Opportunities in Kazakhstan" at the meeting attended by GEBKİM management and company representatives. Tamerlan Razbekov, stating that they work to increase and develop the appeal of industrial zones, said that Almaty, which has many sectors including agriculture, agricultural products, tourism and industry, also attracts interest from foreign investors abroad. Razbekov, mentioning that one of their objectives is also to develop exports, spoke about the opportunities offered to companies and investment options in his presentation.   GEBKİM Chemical Specialty OSB Board Chairman Vefa İbrahim Aracı, noting that Kazakhstan offers significant opportunities as a developing market, thanked Kazakhstan Ankara Ambassador Abzal Saparbekuly and the Kazakh delegation representatives. Aracı said, "During my recent trip to Kazakhstan, I had the opportunity to see the opportunities in the country and ongoing activities firsthand and received extremely positive impressions. I also wish to thank our Ambassador Abzal Saparbekuly for his serious efforts. We were very pleased to host them at GEBKİM Chemical Specialty OSB. I hope that this visit will be the beginning of important developments for our producer companies in GEBKİM in both trade and investment terms. The general and local investment incentives in Kazakhstan are noteworthy. Additionally, the high level of desire to do business with producers in Turkey should also be evaluated as a positive development."
