DSM Expands Hybrane™ Resin Family to Improve Metal Coating Performance

Royal DSM, a global science company operating in nutrition, health and sustainable living, announced today the launch of a new Hybrane™ product. This new product, called Hybrane™ CY235, will raise standards in automotive, general industrial and metal coatings for ACE applications with advanced coating performance, high throughput and low energy consumption. Built on DSM's proprietary technology, the new Hybrane CY235 product delivers unique performance standards by leveraging the high functionality of the Hybrane™ molecular structure. Unlike other high-solid acrylic resins that typically require 60°C drying conditions for 30 minutes, Hybrane™ CY235 requires only a 40°C cure temperature. Hybrane CY235 thus delivers energy savings of up to 48% compared to standard alternatives. Additionally, thanks to faster drying capabilities, our resin reduces spray booth cycle time by approximately 20%. Under typical workshop conditions, for example, automotive topcoat applicators can apply two additional coats per day and thus increase throughput. The critical point is that Hybrane CY235's excellent hardness, distinctive appearance with high-quality finish and high reactivity without reducing pot life do not diminish the operational benefits in any way.
