Asian Paints is expanding its use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in supply chain processes through o9 Solutions.

Asian Paints has successfully improved supply planning by implementing o9 Solutions' cloud-based AI platform. o9 and Asian Paints partnered to develop "The Purchaser's Workbench" platform tailored to the buyer's unique operational requirements.

The Purchaser's Workbench provides Asian Paints with advanced exception-based coverage monitoring and visibility of potential stock levels determined by intelligent rules tailored to raw material categories.

With full inventory visibility, planners can run scenarios in any situation and identify rule-based options such as accelerating a purchase order, creating a new purchase request, or directing inter-facility material transfers. Selected options are communicated back to the ERP system in real time.

Before beginning work with The Purchaser's Workbench, Asian Paints had deployed the o9 platform for a sales intelligence program supporting more than 1,000 mobile users.

The company also implemented a demand planning process using the same platform, refining statistical forecasts by incorporating market intelligence from geographically dispersed sales personnel.

Through this new and ambitious expansion, Asian Paints now provides real-time visibility at all critical data points, enabling sales personnel to conduct more informed discussions with dealers and gaining the organization a new level of market confidence.
