Perstorp Launches Emoltene™ 100 Pro, a Durable DPHP Plasticizer Based on Renewable Feedstock

Perstorp is pioneering the PVC market by launching a general-purpose plasticizer based on partially renewable raw materials using a traceable mass balance concept. Emoltene ™ 100 Pro is a dipropylheptyl phthalate (DPHP) designed to support the sustainable sourcing of renewable and recycled raw materials and reduce carbon dioxide emissions across the value chain. (Photo: Perstorp)[/caption]   Emoltene 100 Pro facilitates straightforward adoption by users and is ready to be dropped directly into existing flexible PVC formulations. Users can expect the same performance as Perstorp's existing Emoltene 100 plasticizer with the added benefit of a lower carbon footprint. Emoltene 100 Pro will be offered in two grades with different renewable content levels based on mass balance: the first containing 14% is currently available, while the one with 71% is expected to reach the market in the near future.

"This track record of success prompted us to continue working with the same DPHP molecule, but to offer a more sustainable design in line with our customers' demands and global sustainability trends in sectors such as automotive and construction. Being able to provide a well-known and proven plasticizer with improved environmental characteristics is an important milestone for future soft PVC applications."

The first-grade renewable content in Emoltene 100 Pro is biogas, which replaces fossil natural gas as a raw material. Emoltene 100 Pro and all Perstorp Pro-Environment products are certified according to the ISCC PLUS system (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification). Perstorp's mass balance and greenhouse gas calculations, which implement both physical and chemical traceability, have been verified. Being ISCC PLUS certified also means that all sections of the value chain up to the source of our sustainable raw materials are ISCC compliant. All Pro-Environment customers are additionally provided with information about the product's GHG (greenhouse gas) value.
