Covestro Named Top Employer in China
Covestro named Top Employer in China by Top Employers Institute. The company received particularly high marks in areas such as employee welfare, work environment, diversity and inclusion.
Covestro China President Holly Lei commented on the matter. Lei noted that Covestro is people-focused and aims to increase employee commitment, satisfaction and happiness, stating "Being selected as China's Top Employer for five consecutive years is a great recognition of this.
In the face of a complex and uncertain external environment, we will continue to support our employees' sustainable career development while enhancing organizational resilience during times of crisis" he said.
Facilitated Transparent and Effective Communication Between Management and Staff
Last year, when lockdowns were implemented in Shanghai due to Covid-19, Covestro demonstrated the value it places on its employees by working with the union to deliver food and daily essentials to staff living throughout the city. The company also provided live fitness classes, psychological counseling sessions and special online medical consultations during this period, fostering greater feelings of belonging and happiness among staff. Additionally, Covestro held several online town halls and roundtable meetings to facilitate transparent and effective communication between management and staff, paving the way for smooth business resumption following quarantine.Enhanced New Employee Onboarding Program
Pandemic-related issues made recruiting new staff challenging. In this context, Covestro enabled remote hiring by providing comprehensive guidance and e-signature solutions for newcomers. The company also enhanced the new employee onboarding program by transitioning traditional classroom training to an online environment and allowing newcomers to begin self-directed learning. The newly designed offline sessions of the improved program enable new employees to better discover the company's core success factors and experience the corporate culture through gamification. Covestro has embraced diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in its culture and focused its activities on three main pillars: colleagues, company and community. Last June, Covestro advanced DEI internally through DEI APAC Week, during which DEI ambassadors who are members of the management team shared the company's best practices and DEI achievements through opening remarks, encouraging colleagues to apply DEI practices in their daily work. Various employee groups also exchanged views on the topic in roundtable discussions and book-sharing sessions. Covestro China Human Resources Head Lesley Lin said "Covestro values our employees' work experience and overall wellbeing. We believe that without healthy and happy employees, a company cannot achieve success. Covestro will continue to implement its human resources strategy to empower people's development and contribute to corporate success" she said. SourceAdvertisement
