Clariant, a focused, sustainable and innovative specialty chemicals company, has announced the opening of a state-of-the-art production facility for process and light stabilizers. The facility is jointly owned by Clariant and Beijing Tiangang Auxiliary Co., Ltd. (Tiangang), China's leading light stabilizer producer and a privately held manufacturer. The facility, located in the Cangzhou National Coastal-Port Economic and Technology Development Zone in Cangzhou (Hebei Province), serves as the hub of the partnership between the two companies. The facility enables Clariant and Tiangang to continue their successful cooperation by providing their ability to meet growing demand for high-quality process and light stabilizers from local growth industries such as automotive, textiles and coatings.

Conrad Keijzer, CEO of Clariant, stated: "With this state-of-the-art facility, we are enhancing our ability to support our Chinese customers with premium stabilizers that meet their growing demand for sustainable solutions. Thanks to this expanded local production capacity focused on meeting local needs and supported by a strong local partner in Tiangang, Clariant will continue to grow the local market."   China represents an important growth region for Clariant, and the company is committed to further developing its local production and research and development capabilities. In addition to this newly opened facility in Cangzhou, Clariant recently inaugurated the new One Clariant Campus in Shanghai, which includes a dedicated China Innovation Center. The company also announced the construction of a new CATOFIN™ catalyst production facility in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province, and is considering launching additional expansions in the near future. Combined with other components of its China-specific strategy, these expansions will enable Clariant to grow its China sales (in the main business area) above CHF 402 million, which represented approximately 10% of the Group's continuing operations sales in 2020. Process and light stabilizers are types of additives used to reduce degradation of plastics caused by exposure to environmental conditions such as light, heat and air. China is an important market for Clariant's range of such stabilizers, including Nylostab® S-EED®, a multi-functional hindered amine light stabilizer (HALS) chemistry for advanced polyamide invented by Clariant. Francois Bleger, Global Head of the Additives Business Unit at Clariant, said: "As a leader in premium additive solutions, we are excited about expanding our production footprint and increasing local access to high-performance, sustainable solutions. Combining the strengths of both Clariant and Tiangang in a first-class production facility in China, close to our customers, makes excellent sense. It increases our ability to support our customers' specific and evolving challenges with sustainable and high-quality offerings." The joint venture between Clariant and Tiangang was established in September 2017 and combines the technology and production expertise of both companies to provide better process and light stabilizers for various growing industries in China. These industries are seeking development in line with China's economic and climate-related objectives, and Clariant is able to provide the advanced technologies and sustainable products needed to do so. Moreover, as the sustainability drive becomes a truly global movement, Clariant is confident that its production facilities in China will help meet the globally increasing demand for innovative and sustainable products. Gang Liu, Executive Director of Tiangang, stated: "The official opening of the facility marks a major milestone in the cooperation between the two companies. Built on the expertise of both partners, the production facility will now meet the growing demand for high-quality additive solutions in Asia with world-class quality products and exceptional service."
