Amperon, an artificial intelligence-backed leader in energy forecasting and analytics solutions, has announced the launch of its weather-informed Grid Demand Mid-Term Forecast (MTF) service for European energy markets. This solution is transforming seasonal planning by providing market participants with electricity demand forecasts extending up to seven months ahead.
Amperon's MTF solution works integrated with ECMWF's 51-member ensemble-based weather forecasts and facilitates uncertainty management through probabilistic forecasting (P5–P95). This enables traders, utilities and operators to better manage risk, hedge their positions and prepare for extreme weather conditions.
Amperon CEO Sean Kelly commented on the matter as follows:
"Traditional forecasts based on historical data fall short in today's variable climate. By integrating real-time weather intelligence and machine learning, we are providing European market participants with forward-looking, probabilistic demand outlooks."
Forecasts are provided at hourly granularity; daily updates for the first 46 days, with monthly updates for the remaining seven-month period. The major markets covered include Austria, Belgium, Czechia, Denmark, France, Germany, Luxembourg, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Poland, Spain and Switzerland.
