Sony Wins Top Honors in Three Categories at the EISA 2026-2027 Awards

Sony was honored in three different categories with its imaging products at the 2026-2027 EISA Awards. The Alpha 7 V was named “Camera of the Year,” the FE 100mm F2.8 Macro GM OSS was named “Macro Lens of the Year,” and the Alpha 7R VI was named “Professional Camera of the Year.”

Sony won awards in three different categories with its imaging technology products at the 2026-2027 Awards organized by the Expert Imaging and Sound Association (EISA).

The Sony Alpha 7 V was honored with the “EISA Camera of the Year” award, marking the second consecutive year the brand has taken first place in this category. Sony’s other awards came in the “EISA Macro Lens of the Year” category with the FE 100mm F2.8 Macro GM OSS, and in the “EISA Professional Camera of the Year” category with the Alpha 7R VI.

The EISA Awards are given to consumer electronics products that stand out in terms of technology and user experience, based on the evaluations of expert publications operating in different countries.

Alpha 7 V named “Camera of the Year”
Sony’s Alpha 7 V model stood out in the EISA jury’s evaluation thanks to its full-frame sensor, high-speed continuous shooting features, and AI-powered autofocus system.

Featuring a partially stacked Exmor RS CMOS image sensor with approximately 33 megapixels of resolution, the Alpha 7 V can perform continuous shooting at up to 30 frames per second. The camera also features a 5-axis image stabilization system.

Powered by Sony’s BIONZ XR2 processor and an integrated AI processing unit, the model offers autofocus with real-time subject recognition, including human pose estimation.

On the video side, the Alpha 7 V can record 4K video at 60 fps, as well as 4K recording at up to 120 fps in Super 35 crop mode. With its weather-resistant body, the model is positioned as a solution for both studio and outdoor use.

FE 100mm F2.8 Macro GM OSS wins award in the macro lens category
Sony’s FE 100mm F2.8 Macro GM OSS lens was named “Macro Lens of the Year” by EISA.

Offering a magnification ratio of 1.4x, the lens can reach up to 2.8x magnification when used with a teleconverter. This feature provides higher magnification capability, particularly for close-up shots of small objects.

Featuring a weather-resistant design, the FE 100mm F2.8 Macro GM OSS stands out with its autofocus system powered by four XD Linear Motors and its 5-axis image stabilization technology.

The EISA jury highlighted the lens’s edge-to-edge image sharpness and overall optical performance, evaluating the model as one of the products reflecting the top-tier optical performance approach of Sony’s G Master series.

Alpha 7R VI awarded in the professional camera category
Sony’s high-resolution Alpha 7R VI model won the “EISA Professional Camera of the Year” award.

Featuring a full-frame Exmor RS CMOS sensor, the Alpha 7R VI offers 66.8 megapixels of resolution. The model stands out with features geared toward professional photography applications where high resolution is essential.

Powered by the BIONZ XR2 processor and an integrated AI processing unit, the camera can perform continuous shooting at 30 frames per second and record 8K video. An improved subject recognition and tracking system also supports the model’s autofocus performance.

The Alpha 7R VI features enhanced RAW formats, flexible focus area options, comprehensive video capabilities, and longer battery life, as well as a dual card slot supporting CFexpress Type A and UHS-II SD cards.
