Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures report: Targeting carbon-neutral growth
In addition to increasing its S&P and LSEG scores, Zorlu Enerji published its first Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) report in 2024, transparently sharing its work and targets in this area with the public.
Aware that increased renewable energy use is one of the most important components of transition to a low-carbon economy, Zorlu Enerji has long invested only in renewable sources, contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in the atmosphere. The company commits to producing all of its energy from renewable sources by 2030. Beyond its own operations, the company works to facilitate carbon-neutral growth for its customers and continues its activities in line with the target of achieving net-zero across its entire value chain by 2040.
Focusing on contributing to the preservation of biodiversity, an issue as important as the climate crisis, Zorlu Enerji aims to be net positive in full alignment with international frameworks by continuing to invest in biodiversity conservation and enhancement in the regions where its operations and facilities are located by 2035.
"We continue to multiply our achievements"
Elif Yener, Chief Executive Officer of Zorlu Enerji, stated that the company continues its activities with a sustainability and renewable energy-focused vision and spoke on the matter as follows:
"The report results demonstrating our rising ESG performance make us proud as evidence that we play a pioneering role on behalf of our sector in sustainability. In addition to being Turkey's first company to sign the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), which aims to ensure that companies base their carbon emission reduction targets on scientific grounds, we are among the first Turkish companies to publish CDP Forest and TCFD reports.
Most recently, ranking third among 334 companies globally in LSEG's environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance assessment of publicly listed companies and raising our S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment score from 49 to 74 demonstrates the success of our sustainability-focused strategy. From renewable energy production to energy transition, we will continue to minimize risks and create positive impact in our wide range of activities. In our work, we will focus on R&D and future technologies and continue our activities with the goal of increasing our resource diversity."
