The "Rewarding Cheeses Project," implemented through the collaboration of Muratbey and the digital waste management platform Waste Log, encourages consumers to contribute their packaging waste to recycling. The project will offer participants a hands-on recycling experience at the Recycling Experience Event to be held on September 29 as part of the 5th Trusted Product Summit.
Muratbey and Waste Log launched the "Rewarding Cheeses Project" under the slogan "Contribution to the environment, plus for the user" in order to raise recycling awareness and strengthen consumers' role in waste management.
The project, which makes consumers an active part of the recycling process, will meet with participants at the Recycling Experience Event to be held on September 29 as part of the 5th Trusted Product Summit. Within the scope of the event, participants will be able to earn carbon points by depositing their Muratbey packaging into recycling bins registered in the Waste Log system. Points, which can be tracked through the application, can be converted into gift vouchers and various discounts on the Carbon Market.
The recycling process will be explained through hands-on experience
At the Recycling Experience Event, participants will have the opportunity to experience firsthand how packaging waste is included in the recycling process. Thanks to the system supported by the Waste Log infrastructure, waste recovered for recycling is tracked digitally, while users' contribution to the environment is rewarded through the carbon point mechanism.
The summit will also address the starting point, operation, and sustainability goals of the Rewarding Cheeses Project. In a session featuring Muratbey Gıda Communication and Business Development Director Gülnur Uluğ, Sustainability Steps Association Chairman Emrah Kurum, and Waste Log Co-Founder Mahir Oktay Çelik as speakers, the importance of consumer participation in waste management and the opportunities offered by digital solutions will be discussed.
"Both the environment and the family budget benefit"
Emphasizing the importance they place on consumers taking an active role in the recycling process, Muratbey Gıda Communication and Business Development Director Gülnur Uluğ provided the following information about the operation of the project:
"Our consumers can directly contribute to the environment by recycling the Muratbey cheese packaging they use. Our users who join the Rewarding Cheeses Project through the Waste Log application can upload photos of the Muratbey packaging they deposit into recycling bins to the application. Carbon points calculated based on the material and quantity of the waste are registered to user accounts. Our users can convert the points they accumulate into gift vouchers and various discounts through the Carbon Market feature in the application. In this way, we aim to make recycling behavior a part of daily life while contributing to both the environment and the family budget."
"We address sustainability throughout the entire life cycle of the product"
Noting that sustainability is a responsibility that continues even after the product is consumed, Uluğ evaluated the project's place in Muratbey's sustainability approach as follows:
"As Muratbey, we do not view sustainability as limited to production processes alone; we also consider the life cycle of the product after it reaches the consumer as part of our responsibility. The foundation of our development of the Rewarding Cheeses Project lies in the need to ensure that consumers take an active role in the recycling of packaging waste and to turn this process into an easy, measurable, and rewarding behavior. Therefore, we see this project as an important step that places consumer participation at the center of our sustainability strategy."
Noting that the system developed in collaboration with Waste Log makes not only consumers but also business partners part of the sustainability process, Uluğ continued as follows:
"While we encourage recycling through an AI-supported and traceable system with the Waste Log infrastructure, we are implementing the project together with our business partners who sell our products. In this way, we aim to transform sustainability from being merely a brand activity into a shared responsibility model among consumers, brands, and business partners."
Focusing on consumer participation in recycling
The Rewarding Cheeses Project encourages the recycling of packaging waste while placing consumers' active participation in the process at its center. By bringing together digital tracking, carbon scoring, and a reward mechanism, the project aims to transform recycling into an easier, more visible, and more encouraging experience.
With this approach, Muratbey addresses sustainability not only as part of production processes but also as part of the product's life cycle after it reaches the consumer.
