Alışan Lojistik, which published its first Sustainability Report in 2024, has joined the ranks of signatories to the UN Global Compact platform, one of the world's largest corporate sustainability initiatives.
Alışan Lojistik, which announced in its first Sustainability Report released last year that it aims to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 50 percent by 2030, continues to take strong steps on sustainability. Most recently, having joined UN Global Compact, Alışan Lojistik has adopted the 10 principles of UN Global Compact, which define the fundamental responsibilities of business in the areas of human rights, labour standards, environment and anti-corruption. Alışan Lojistik stated that it will work on a voluntary basis to align its strategy and operations with these principles, and through its UN Global Compact membership has elevated its work in the field of sustainability to the next level.
Alışan Lojistik CEO Damla Alışan, drawing attention to the fact that being part of UN Global Compact—which encourages thousands of companies operating in more than 170 countries worldwide to take action in line with sustainable and responsible business practices—is an important turning point in sustainable development journeys, stated: "In the logistics sector, not only operational excellence but also social and environmental responsibility are of great importance to us. Joining as a signatory to UN Global Compact is not merely an ethical commitment; it is also a clear indication that as Alışan Lojistik we have placed sustainability at the core of how we do business. At a time when the logistics sector is undergoing major transformation, we believe it is impossible to grow while ignoring our environmental and social responsibilities.
We aim to build the logistics of not only today but also tomorrow. Therefore, as we improve our business processes, we base ourselves on respect for human rights, look after the welfare of our employees and business partners, and invest in technologies aimed at reducing our carbon footprint. We are committed to implementing the 10 universal principles of UN Global Compact in every area of our operations. We view these principles not only as a guide but also as a strategic compass. By taking this step, we are assuming our role in building a more just, transparent and liveable world; we aim to lead transformation in the sector."
Alışan Lojistik, which is also part of the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), which reports corporate climate change risks on a global scale, continues to implement numerous successful projects in the field of sustainability aimed at efficient use of energy sources, widespread adoption of renewable energy sources and reduction of negative environmental impact.
