Yeşilay Invited to Join CSFD

YEŞILAY TO SHARE EXPERIENCE AND WORK IN EUROPEAN COMMISSION CIVIL SOCIETY FORUM ON DRUGS (CSFD) EXPERT GROUP

Yeşilay has increased its international activities by joining the Civil Society Forum on Drugs (CSFD), one of the most important platforms for action against drug trafficking in Europe. CSFD is an expert group under the European Commission and brings together the views of civil society organizations across Europe on drug policy issues. Yeşilay's membership in CSFD is of great importance for the recognition and evaluation of Turkey's experience and efforts in fighting drugs across Europe. With Yeşilay's contributions, the Austrian country Yeşilay organization 'Verein Neubeginn' will also be accepted as a member of the working group, ensuring that prevention and treatment capabilities are represented more effectively.

Yeşilay will also attend the meeting of the Civil Society Forum on Drugs (CSFD) to be held in Brussels on 11-12 December. As part of its membership, Yeşilay will communicate directly with the European Commission through CSFD and represent the views and recommendations of Turkish civil society at the international level. By providing practical advice to the European Commission in the shaping and implementation of drug policies, it will contribute to the development of more effective and inclusive policies. Yeşilay, which will cooperate with other civil society organizations in Europe to develop joint projects on drug control and exchange information, will also consult with the "Horizontal Working Party on Drugs (HDG)" working group, which is responsible for the formulation of EU Commission drug strategy and action plans.

Yeşilay Chairman Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Dinç, in his statement regarding this important development, stated that CSFD membership is a great source of pride for Yeşilay. Dinç said, "This membership of Yeşilay, the only civil society organization fighting simultaneously with five types of addiction recognized by the World Health Organization, will help make Turkey's experience and efforts in fighting drugs more visible on the international stage. In addition, by cooperating with other civil society organizations in Europe, we will wage a stronger fight against the drug problem," he said.
