"Innovation and R&D Are Essential for International Competitiveness in Food!"

Geopolitical uncertainties around the world, the climate crisis and rapidly changing consumer expectations are forcing fundamental transformation in the food sector. Turkey Food Manufacturers' Association (TÜGİS) Board Chairman Kaan Sidar made remarks addressing the importance of public support within the scope of this transformation.

Sidar said: "Particularly the Ministry of Industry and Technology's multifaceted incentive and support policies are pioneering the transformation of our food industry into an innovation-focused, competitive and value-added ecosystem. At the Sustainable Food Summit, to which our Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır responded to our invitation, highlighting that the food industry is one of the leading sectors in national development further strengthened our commitment to the sector's future. We express our gratitude once more for their support and confidence in our industry."

Despite global challenges, Turkey's food industry continues its steady growth through comprehensive incentives, modern production infrastructure and research and development-focused policies. With the support of strategic public initiatives, Turkey's food industry is strengthening its effective position internationally while maintaining stability in the domestic market.

Investment incentive certificates issued for 8,589 projects

Under the leadership of the Ministry of Industry and Technology and in line with Turkey's food industry's sustainable development targets, many strategic projects are being implemented. Within this scope, 8,589 investment incentive certificates for food product manufacturing have been issued since 2002. Additionally, TRY 708 billion in investments and 252,000 qualified jobs have been enabled. TÜGİS Board Chairman Kaan Sidar, emphasizing the importance of these supports, stated: "We are pleased to observe that our Ministry is showing particular sensitivity. For example, through the 'Those in Anatolia' project, local products are opened to international markets and our geographically indicated products reach the value they deserve." Sidar also noted that Turkey has a unique potential worldwide with 1,658 registered geographically indicated products.

Supportive policies ranging from research and development investments to food specialization organized industrial zones, from technology-focused enterprises to branding local values, are accelerating our sector's sustainable growth.
