Polat Makina: A Global Success Story in Olive Oil Technologies

Polat Makina, which represents Turkey in 45 countries with machines built using domestic technology, brought together press representatives at its headquarters factory in Aydın on the occasion of World Olive Tree Day, proclaimed by UNESCO on 26 November. 

Polat Group Holding and Polat Makina Founder and Honorary Chairman İbrahim Polat and senior executives made significant announcements about machinery used in olive oil production, the company's operations and future period projects, while drawing attention to environmentally friendly and sustainable production processes.  

Polat Makina brought together press representatives at its headquarters factory in Aydın on the occasion of World Olive Tree Day on 26 November. At the event, the company's sustainable production vision, olive oil technologies and future-oriented projects were shared in detail. Polat Makina's environmentally friendly production processes and projects supporting women's employment came to the fore.               

At Polat Makina, a subsidiary of Polat Group Holding, which operates with 13 group companies, 4 of which are abroad, olive oil production technologies shaped in accordance with the company's sustainability principles, Polat Makina's operations, an assessment of the previous year and future projects were shared. Following the meeting attended by Polat Group Holding and Polat Makina Founder and Honorary Chairman İbrahim Polat and senior executives, a factory tour organised for press representatives introduced production processes in detail. At the meeting where Polat Group Holding General Manager Rıza Korkut Özdemir and Polat Group Holding Finance Director Serkan Ersoy provided general information about the holding and its subsidiaries, Polat Makina General Manager L. Mutlu Şahan spoke about digital transformation processes, innovative applications and projects developed on the basis of sustainability.

İbrahim Polat: "We Became a Global Force in 45 Countries over 46 Years" 

Polat Group Holding Founder and Honorary Chairman İbrahim Polat, who delivered the opening speech of the meeting, recounted Polat Makina's 46-year success story, emphasising how the company grew in global markets. Polat added to his remarks that they aimed to enter new markets and increase global competitive strength in the coming period. İbrahim Polat, recalling that the success story that began in Aydın has today transformed into a global structure, said, "26 November was proclaimed World Olive Tree Day by UNESCO. I, too, was born with a passion for olives in this land and started my journey in 1978 in a small 4.5 square metre workshop. Today, we have reached a point where we can say 'wherever there is olive, there is the Polat Makina signature'.  

We export our products to 45 different countries, particularly in Europe, the Middle East and America. Thanks to the dedicated work of talented individuals at Polat Makina, we have reached our current position in a relatively short time. In the coming period, we aim to enter new markets and further strengthen our global presence. Throughout this process, we will continue to be a globally competitive player without compromising on customer satisfaction and quality," he said. 

L. Mutlu Şahan: "Sustainability and Innovation are the Cornerstones of Our Growth" 

Polat Makina General Manager L. Mutlu Şahan also emphasised in his speech at the meeting the importance the company places on R&D work and environmentally friendly production processes; "We aim to minimise our carbon footprint through solar energy investments. As of 2027, we aim to use all generated electricity in our production facilities.."  Şahan also announced steps to support women's employment in the region through their projects titled "The Uniting Power of Women". 

Polat Makina General Manager L. Mutlu Şahan also drew attention to the significant contributions they make to the sector through comprehensive solutions offered in olive oil production.  Noting that sustainable and stable growth is among the fundamental priorities, Şahan said, "With R&D work we carry out in our 30,000 m² production facility, we provide specialised solutions for each stage required in olive oil production. Through our technological superiority and commitment to quality, we have great prestige on a global scale. In line with our sustainability vision, we established a solar energy system with an investment of approximately USD 2 million and a capacity of 4.9 million kWh per year. We continue our efforts without slowing down to minimise our carbon footprint in all business processes." 

Also drawing attention to the importance that Aydın has as a region, Şahan said, "The fact that our company's foundations were laid in Aydın and that we have a well-established history here encourages us to implement projects that add value to the region. Within this scope, we implemented the Welding Operator Training Programme under our 'The Uniting Power of Women' project, which we launched in 2023. The programme became an important step in supporting both women's employment and local development by contributing to the region's development." . 

Emphasising that in 2024 they progressed in parallel with their growth strategies, Şahan concluded his remarks by saying, "By implementing the projects we have planned for 2025, we aim to rise to a much more productive position and take customer satisfaction even higher."
