The Chemical Industry's Heart Beats at Turkchem

Turkchem Fair, one of the largest gathering points for the chemical sector, opened its doors on 27 November at Istanbul Fair Centre. The event, running until 29 November, brings together sector professionals.

Interdye & Textile Printing Eurasia Fair will take place simultaneously, and the fair showcasing sustainable solutions and innovative technologies offers collaboration and new opportunities to local and international participants.

Turkchem Fair opens its doors for the 10th time in Istanbul on 27-29 November 2024. Organized under the motto "Everything Related to Chemistry," the fair aims to direct the sector towards sustainable solutions and innovative practices.

The fair draws attention this year with two important innovations:
•    Turkey's first and only ethyl acetate production will be showcased. Ethyl acetate, an environmentally friendly and versatile solvent, is preferred in many sectors including paints, cosmetics and plastics.
•    Domestic citric acid production stands out as a critical step for Turkey in many areas, particularly in the food industry.

Organized simultaneously with Interdye & Textile Printing Eurasia, the fair brings innovative products and services in the chemical and textile sectors to the fore, and in this context, solutions supporting sustainable production techniques attract attention.

The fair is organized with the support of important organizations such as Turkish Chemical Manufacturers Association (TKSD), European Chemical Distributors Association (FECC) and Turkish Chemical Society (TKD). Textile-focused events are held in cooperation with Turkish Textile Finishing Industry Association (TTTSD), Chamber of Textile Engineers (TMO) and Textile Exporters and Workers Association (TİCHAD).

Important Innovations in the Chemical Industry
This year Turkchem makes a first by introducing Turkey's first ethyl acetate and citric acid production. As a solvent, ethyl acetate is widely used in paints, adhesives, inks and plastics production while standing out for its environmentally friendly properties. Citric acid, an important component in the food industry, highlights solutions aimed at extending shelf life.

In his remarks at the fair, Artkim Group Founder and CEO Cengiz Yaman, emphasizing Turkchem's growth, noted that the fair grew by 40 percent compared to the previous organization. Yaman said, "The fact that 243 of the 434 participants are foreign reflects the importance Turkey attaches to the chemical sector."

Adil Pelister, Head of the Chemical Sector Board of Turkey's Exporters Assembly (TİM), emphasized that compliance with European Union (EU) regulations plays a critical role in the chemical sector. Pelister stated that the Chemical Technology Centre planned to be established in Gebze will strengthen R&D and certification processes in the sector and contribute to domestic production.

Turkchem Fair, aiming to increase the chemical sector's international cooperation and contributions to sustainable development, supports both economic growth and environmentally friendly production goals.

Turkchem also aims to raise awareness on sustainability and zero carbon targets through a CO₂ Neutral Technical Presentation Area. At the event, presentations on environmentally friendly production techniques and training on the EU's 2026 environmental laws will be held. On the path to a USD 45 billion export target in the chemical sector, Turkchem offers innovation and collaboration opportunities together.
