Turkish Couple Develops Kit for Rapid Coronavirus Testing

Serhat Pala and Zeynep Ilgaz Pala, who live in the United States, announced that they have produced a kit that can perform a new type of Coronavirus (COVID-19) test in 3-10 minutes with a single drop of blood.

The Pala couple, in their statement, described the work they conducted at their company "Confirm Biosciences" established in San Diego, California.

The Pala couple stated that they completed their research aimed at rapidly identifying virus carriers a year ago and announced that they have moved into the production phase.

The Pala couple noted that they believed they had to do something in the face of the virus affecting the world, stating, "We focused on this day and night with our team. We set out asking: 'How can we perform tests that are expensive and take a long time in hospital laboratories under limited conditions more quickly, and how can we become hope and a solution for thousands of people?' We produced test kits together with our Chinese partner and launched them on the market. The CE-marked test kit uses lateral flow technology to detect the virus with a small drop of blood sample. The test, which takes between 3-10 minutes, began to be sold by the millions in China, Europe and other continents."
