Samsung and TOÇEV Publish Guide for Parents to Protect Children Online During Full Lockdown Period

The "Take Responsibility for Sharing" platform, launched by Samsung and TOÇEV, will serve as an important guide for parents who want to protect their children, who will spend more time online during the full lockdown period. The website, which features numerous useful content on controlled internet access for children, provides parents with important tips to protect their children from internet hazards. The full lockdown period beginning on 29 April at 19:00 will extend the time children spend at home, like all of us. During this period, children will undoubtedly spend more time on the internet. In this period, parents bear greater responsibility in protecting their children from the harmful aspects of the internet and ensuring they benefit from the internet correctly.

Research conducted within the framework of the "Take Responsibility for Sharing" project, implemented by Samsung Turkey together with TOÇEV (Tüvana Reading Enthusiastic Children Education Foundation), demonstrates how important it is to raise parental awareness about content children may encounter on the internet. More than half of survey participants believe that content they do not monitor is suitable for their children to consume. While watching videos is seen by parents as a reward given to children, nearly half of parents say they do not monitor the advertisements that appear while children play games or watch something. In fact, one-third of participants even think that appearing advertisements could be beneficial to their children's development.

 

The "Take Responsibility for Sharing" website, launched by Samsung Turkey in partnership with TOÇEV, offers a useful guide for parents who want to safely prepare their children for the future during this period. The portal, created under the umbrella of Samsung Turkey's "Use the Internet Wisely" campaign, focuses particularly on raising awareness among parents with young children about the correct use of the internet in terms of time and content.

  Through the Take Responsibility for Sharing platform, parents can access useful content on controlled internet access for their children. On the platform, which features both written and video content, the risks and hazards children may encounter online are explained in detail by subject matter experts. The "How do you explain safe internet to your child?" section on the platform includes what should be paid attention to and what precautions should be taken according to children's age groups. Through the checklist on the platform, parents can see and check off what they need to do in list form. Additionally, through a survey offered on the platform, parents can evaluate their own internet usage.
