Şişecam Focuses on Efficiency and Financial Resilience in First Half

Şişecam recorded net sales of TRY 122 billion in the first half of 2026, while making TRY 12 billion in investments. The company's international sales accounted for 61% of total sales, with exports reaching USD 464 million. Alongside glass, soda ash and industrial raw material production, Şişecam continued its work on new capacity investments, sustainability projects and financial resilience.

Şişecam, which operates globally in the glass and chemicals sectors, announced its financial and operational results for the first six months of 2026.

The company achieved net sales of TRY 122 billion in the first half of the year, with international sales representing 61% of total sales. In the same period, Şişecam invested TRY 12 billion and exports reached USD 464 million.

The company's first-half production reached 2.8 million tons of glass, 2.2 million tons of soda ash and 2 million tons of industrial raw materials.

Can Yücel: "Our priorities were productivity, cost and financial management"
Şişecam Chief Executive Officer Can Yücel stated that they focused on preserving operational and financial performance during a period of ongoing global economic uncertainty and fluctuations in energy and logistics costs.

Yücel said that their priorities in the first half were increased productivity, cost and financial management, and operational agility, adding that they prioritized cash generation and liquidity management.

Noting that a disciplined approach to working capital management was maintained, Yücel stated they focused on more efficient management of funding sources and cash assets. He noted that the Eurobond issuance completed in the first quarter of the year and partnerships developed with international financial institutions contributed to short and medium-term liquidity management.

Coated glass capacity increased by 17%
Şişecam commissioned two new coated glass lines at its flat glass facilities in Bulgaria and Italy in the first quarter of 2026. These investments roughly doubled coated glass capacity in Europe while targeting an increase in the share of high-value products in the portfolio.

In the second quarter, a new coated glass line with annual capacity of 7 million square meters was completed in Tarsus. With the startup of this investment, Şişecam's total coated glass capacity increased by 17% to reach 48.1 million square meters annually.

The company aims to expand global production capacity in the coated glass field with a new line scheduled for startup by year-end in India with capacity of 4.5 million square meters per year.

Tarsus flat glass production capacity reached 432 thousand tons
The TR9 line was also completed at Şişecam's greenfield flat glass investment in Tarsus. The Tarsus flat glass facility, which has reached annual gross production capacity of 432 thousand tons, has become one of the world's largest flat glass production complexes.

Planned periodic maintenance and cold repair work at the company's flat glass plant in northern Italy were also completed. With the resumption of production, operational planning to balance capacity utilization rates at production facilities in Europe continued.

Glass packaging investment in Hungary preparing for production
Şişecam's glass packaging production facility in Hungary, the company's first in Europe, reached an important milestone.

The first furnace, with annual gross capacity of 198 thousand tons, was fired to begin test production. With the facility's full startup, the goal is to strengthen Şişecam's glass packaging production and supply capability in the European market.

Permitting process ongoing for US soda ash investments
Şişecam continued its natural soda ash operations in the US and reached the final stages of the permitting process for the Pacific Soda project being developed in the region.

The company continued work on advancing the investment under appropriate conditions, taking into account changes in market conditions.

Renewable energy capacity to reach 106 MW
Şişecam continued its renewable energy investments in line with its goal of carbon-free production.

A 20 MW solar power plant established in Manisa was added to the previously commissioned solar facilities with total installed capacity of 25 MW. This brought Şişecam's total solar energy installed capacity to 45 MW.

With completion of a new 61 MW capacity investment scheduled for startup by year-end in Kars, the company aims to increase its total renewable energy capacity to 106 MW.

Şişecam maintains export leadership
Şişecam was once again named the sector's export leader by the Turkish Exporters Assembly with USD 938 million in exports achieved in 2025.

The company was also recognized with an international award in the financing field. The Working Capital Note transaction, structured for the first time globally as a digitally negotiable instrument, won the "Best Deal" award under the GTR Awards 2025.

Şişecam was also named Turkey's best company by World Finance for its corporate governance practices, and published its sustainability report in compliance with Turkey's Sustainability Reporting Standards (TSRS) after undergoing an independent assurance process.

Şişecam Chief Executive Officer Can Yücel stated that they will continue to adapt to changing market conditions for the remainder of the year and will focus on areas that will enhance their long-term competitive advantage.

Yücel noted that among priorities are expanding productivity programs, increasing the share of high-value products in the portfolio, improving effectiveness in new markets and advancing sustainability initiatives.
