Shell & Turcas Partners with Turkey Spinal Cord Paralytics Association (TOFD)
Shell & Turcas is collaborating with Türkiye Omurilik Felçlileri Derneği (TOFD) to collect plastic caps from specialized lubricant service outlets across Turkey. All revenues generated from recycling the collected caps will be used to purchase wheelchairs for people with disabilities.
Seyfettin Uzunçakmak, General Manager of Shell & Turcas Lubricants, noted that they are aware of the difficulties faced by people with disabilities in their daily lives and stated:
"We have launched a cap collection project in collaboration with TOFD to help purchase wheelchairs that will provide mobility to our citizens with disabilities. We are very pleased that through this initiative, we are contributing to reducing the difficulties experienced by people with disabilities."
Ramazan Baş, Chairman of TOFD, stated that since its establishment, the association has successfully implemented numerous national and international projects, with one of the most important being the "plastic cap collection campaign", commonly known as the "blue cap" initiative in public discourse.
Ramazan Baş said: "We have reached an agreement with Shell & Turcas regarding the collection of caps from lubricant packaging. Through this cooperation, product caps will be collected on a voluntary basis.
The revenues generated from the collected caps will be used to purchase equipment that will enable people with disabilities to move freely, such as motorized or manual wheelchairs and pressure relief wheelchairs. We are very pleased that Shell & Turcas has shown sensitivity and supported our project."
