Free Trade Agreement Between the UK and Turkey to Be Signed
According to a statement from the UK Department of Trade, the United Kingdom and Turkey will sign a free trade agreement on Tuesday.
The agreement will encompass existing trade conditions between Ankara and London.
UK Trade Secretary Liz Truss said the following regarding the matter: "The agreement we expect to sign this week secures tariff-free trade arrangements and will help support our trade relationship. In her statement, Truss said, "The free trade agreement will create thousands of jobs across UK manufacturing, automotive and steel industries. We look forward to working with Turkey in the near future on an ambitious, bespoke UK-Turkey trade agreement."
Trade relations were valued at GBP 18.6 billion (USD 25.25 billion) in 2019, and this is the fifth largest trade agreement that the UK Department of Trade has negotiated, following agreements with Japan, Canada, Switzerland and Norway.
