Important Announcement from the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Employers' Union of Turkey (İEİS)

Pharmaceutical Industry Employers' Association (İEİS) states it expects to be included in the Economic Stability Shield Notice issued.

  The Pharmaceutical Industry Employers' Association announced that it expects the pharmaceutical sector to be included in the Economic Stability Shield Notice published by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance in order to overcome the challenges facing the Turkish pharmaceutical sector within the scope of the COVID-19 pandemic and to continue production without interruption.  

İEİS provided the following information in its statements:

The pandemic period has once again demonstrated the strategic importance of countries having strong institutions, health systems and pharmaceutical industries. During this concerning period, we are greatly satisfied to see that an extremely effective and transparent policy has been pursued under the direction of our President, our Ministry of Health and our other Ministries. The rapid implementation of necessary measures is a source of pride and strength for our country. The determined struggle of our Government, our valued physicians and our health personnel gives us great confidence and morale. From the very first day the pandemic began, we as the pharmaceutical industry immediately deployed emergency measures to ensure that access to medicines was not interrupted. We prioritise the health of our employees in our production facilities who are supporting the struggle on the front lines and continue our production without interruption by taking necessary measures for their safety. Despite rising raw material prices, delays caused by border closures, and logistics service disruptions for raw materials we expect from abroad, as the pharmaceutical industry we are mobilising all our current strength and resources for the benefit of our country and the health of our people. The extraordinary conditions imposed by the pandemic on society and business life have created negative effects on our pharmaceutical industry as on every sector. We consider it essential that our industry be included within the scope of the Economic Stability Shield Notice issued by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance in order to minimise these effects and ensure continuous production. In this regard, we need the urgent direction of our Ministry to ensure that our industry also benefits from the opportunities granted to other sectors. We hope that our country, with all its institutions united, will overcome these difficult days in the shortest possible time.
