Export Compass Sets Course for Argentina This Time
Turkey's Exporters Council (TİM) has continued its "Export Compass" event series in 2018, organized with Coface's support to help exporting companies gain a closer understanding of their target markets.
Following events on Côte d'Ivoire, Brazil and Malaysia, the fourth meeting of the year addressed all aspects of the Argentine market.
In his opening remarks at the panel discussing Argentine business culture and key considerations about the country, TİM Secretary General Dr. Halil Bader Arslan informed exporters about İnovalig, İnosuit and the Export Information Platform, among the services TİM provides to exporters.
Arslan stated that participation in İnovalig, which serves as a guidance resource for companies, numbered 971 last year, and noted that they are targeting four-digit application numbers this year.
Bader Arslan explained that the İnosuit project is a consultancy service and that feedback from applicant companies has been very positive. He also provided participants with information about the Export Information Platform website, which will open shortly.
Trade balance favours Argentina
Diego Alvarez Rivera, Consul General of the Argentine Republic in Istanbul, spoke at the event and provided general information about Argentina's economy. Rivera stated that Argentina exports USD 58 billion annually and imports USD 64 billion, while Argentina imports USD 112 million from Turkey and exports USD 342 million to Turkey. In his remarks, the Consul General said: "Argentina is the country with the highest level of worker education within Latin America. Particularly in terms of English-speaking rates, it ranks first in Latin America. We are among the world's largest food exporters. At the panel moderated by TİM Research and Development Director Nevsal Zülküf Alhas, Müge Helvacıoğlu, former Trade Advisor at the Turkish Economy Ministry's Buenos Aires office, addressed points requiring attention for trade with Argentina. Ali Gençtürk, Deputy General Manager responsible for Commercial Group at Coface, discussed Coface's services in trade with Argentina, while Kubilya Gedikli from Yüksel Seramik shared in the success stories section the experiences, opportunities and challenges faced in Argentina.Advertisement
