GCA Announces Two New Glass Packaging Plant Investments in Kütahya ISTANBUL (AA) - GCA, a company from the Gürok Holding group, will invest in two new glass packaging manufacturing plants in Kütahya. In February, the company brought its second plant on stream in Kütahya 1st Organized Industrial Zone. In doing so, the company nearly doubled its daily production capacity from 420 tons by adding 400 tons. The number of employees hired increased by 100 percent during this period, rising to 500. The company will carry out two further glass packaging plant investments, targeting completion of the third next year and the fourth in 2023, producing clear (flint) and green (colored) glass packaging. These plants will have a combined daily production capacity of 1,000 tons, 500 tons each, and will be constructed within Kütahya 1st OSB. These two new glass packaging plants will feature the largest-capacity furnaces GCA has built to date. GCA's production capacity will rise to a combined 1,800 tons in 2023, increasing annual output from 1 billion to 2.5 billion units, while creating an additional 700 jobs. The new production site will reach a daily production capacity of 2,500 tons across 5 plants total. GCA General Manager Dr. Abdullah Gayret stated that they strive to provide customers with the best and highest-quality products in the glass packaging sector. Gayret noted that in line with this objective, they have made it their responsibility to create added value for the country's economy and are continuing their investments at a rapid pace. Gayret said: "Following the second plant we brought on stream in February, we have begun construction on our third plant, which will be completed next year. We are aiming to begin preparations for our fourth plant as soon as possible and complete it in 2023. Through these investments, we plan to increase our glass packaging production capacity share in Turkey from the 15 percent level to 20 percent, and subsequently to 25 percent, and to reach new customers with our new product portfolio. With these two plant investments, we will grow the market by 16 percent on our own and become Turkey's second-largest glass packaging producer. We currently export to more than 40 countries, particularly to the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Australia and the United States, and with our new investments we are aiming to increase the number of countries to over 50" Gayret said.
