DSM Expands Hybrane™ Resin Family to Enhance Metal Coating Performance

Royal DSM, a global science company in the fields of nutrition, health and sustainable living, has announced the launch of a new Hybrane™ product. This new product, named HybraneCY235, will set standards in ACE (Heavy Duty, Construction and Agricultural Equipment), General Industrial and Automotive Refinish metal coatings industries by delivering advanced coating performance, higher yield and lower energy consumption. The new Hybrane CY235 product, based on DSM's proprietary technology, leverages the high functionality of the Hybrane molecular structure to deliver unprecedented performance standards. Typically, unlike other high-solids acrylic resins that require force-drying conditions at 60°C for 30 minutes, Hybrane CY235 requires only a curing temperature of 40°C. In this way, HybraneCY235 can provide energy savings of up to 48% compared to standard alternatives. Additionally, due to faster drying properties, the resin reduces spray booth cycle time by 20%. Under typical workshop conditions, for example, automotive repair shops can produce two additional jobs per day, which increases production volume. These operationally significant benefits do not compromise the performance of HybraneCY235, which delivers excellent hardness, high-quality visual appearance and high reactivity without sacrificing pot life.
