A new durable anti-viral surface treatment has been scientifically proven to effectively kill the COVID-19 pathogen on contact while maintaining its effect for months on surfaces in restaurant tables, school furniture and other public spaces. Leading chemical bonding specialist AFFIX Labs leveraged its global experience in disease prevention to develop a long-lasting surface treatment proven to kill coronavirus (COVID-19). Now available in Europe and the UAE and rolling out to new global markets, this surface treatment known as Si-Quat combines a safe and established disinfectant with the laboratory's proprietary chemical bonding technique.
"Compared to existing disinfection solutions, Si-Quat changes the rules of the game when it comes to reducing the spread of COVID-19 in places such as schools, restaurants, gymnasiums and other public spaces.
Tests have shown that Si-Quat kills 99.99% of microbes within minutes on any surface protected with Si-Quat. But what makes it so unique is that it continues to do so for approximately one month, even after thousands of touches on frequently used surfaces," says Tom Sam, CEO of AFFIX Labs. "Other sanitation solutions require reapplication to each surface several times a day, which disrupts business operations. This creates additional costs and disruptions at a time when many companies are already struggling." Rigorous testing was conducted at the Portuguese Institute of Biochemistry at the University of Lisbon to verify Si-Quat's durability and its long-lasting ability to kill the virus. The results demonstrate that the product adheres to nearly every surface, including textile products, and is the most durable surface treatment available on the market. Quaternary ammonium, the main component of this innovative surface treatment, is recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO), the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the American Chemistry Council (ACC) and the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) as an effective means of killing viruses. "Due to its incredibly strong layer, Si-Quat only wears away on surfaces after thousands of touches or multiple cleaning cycles. This means Si-Quat will remain effective for approximately one month on heavily used surfaces such as door handles and countertops. AFFIX Labs CEO Tom Sam notes that it has the potential to protect rarely touched surfaces such as walls for years. "Si-Quat, which combines proven effectiveness, safety and long durability, emerges as an important weapon in the fight against the spread of COVID-19." The product is easy to apply, requiring minimal training and only basic protection. Technicians apply Si-Quat to the surface by brush or spray and allow it to cure for 6 hours. AFFIX Labs has begun initiating distribution of Si-Quat to Europe, Africa and the Middle East. It is currently available for commercial use through distributors including Logonet in Finland, SMART MIST PROJECTS in the Republic of Cyprus, BIOTOS GLOBAL SERVICES in Greece and CRYSTALLINE in the UAE. More distribution partners are being added to local markets on a weekly basis.
