BASF Provides Solution for Manufacturing Automotive Roof Frames Made from Natural Fiber

BASF, together with International Automotive Components Group (IAC), one of the world's leading automotive industry suppliers, has developed the world's first completely natural fiber roof frame for automobiles. BASF's Acrodur® 950 L adhesive provides the load-bearing capacity and heat resistance required for the lightweight component. As an alternative to phenolic resins, the water-based and low-emission adhesive reinforces natural fibers and thus provides an environmentally compatible, dimensionally stable and, most importantly, lightweight solution for automotive roof frames.
