Akkuyu Nükleer A.Ş. Compliance with International Standards Confirmed

AKKUYU NUCLEAR A.Ş., a subsidiary of Rosatom, the Russian State Nuclear Energy Corporation executing the construction project of Turkey's first nuclear power plant, has successfully completed its initial audit process that validated its integrated management system's conformity with ISO international standard requirements.
The audit was conducted in-person at the Akkuyu NGS site and remotely at the company's offices in Ankara and Moscow. Auditors examined design management, construction and assembly operations management, commissioning activities management, and the fulfillment of responsibilities as owner, license holder, and contractor throughout the Akkuyu NGS lifecycle stages.
Following the audit, the certification body identified no nonconformities and AKKUYU NUCLEAR A.Ş.'s integrated management system was found to conform to international standard requirements: ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management System), ISO 19443:2018 (specific requirements (ITNS) for the application of ISO 9001:2015 for supply chain organizations in the nuclear energy sector providing nuclear safety-significant products and services), ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management System), and ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System).
The independent certification audit was conducted by Kalitest, the certification body of the Turkish Republic holding international accreditation from the Russian Federation certification body International Certification Service and the Turkish Accreditation Board (TÜRKAK). The certification bodies work in cooperation with each other on the basis of a partnership agreement.
Following the audit, auditors highlighted AKKUYU NUCLEAR A.Ş.'s strong points, including competently structured work on organizing supply chain audits, high-level preparedness for mobile crisis center operations, development of safety culture at contractor sites, and optimal use of advanced firefighting and tactical equipment.
Auditors noted that company personnel were trained in accordance with training programs regarding integrated management system requirements. Independent auditors positively evaluated the detailed environmental safety requirements for suppliers and the use of agile dashboards enabling rapid contractor interaction for metrological support.

This demonstrated that AKKUYU NUCLEAR fulfills international standard requirements using best management system practices and is effectively developing the implementation of nuclear safety norms."
