Full lockdown to begin from 29 April to 17 May

President Erdoğan outlined the following regarding the new measures adopted:

"We are moving to a complete lockdown starting Thursday, 29 April 2021 at 19:00 and lasting until Monday morning, 17 May 2021 at 05:00. All businesses will halt operations, except for institutions exempted as specified in the Ministry of Interior circular.

All intercity travel will require authorization and intercity public transport will operate at 50% capacity. Accommodation facility reservations will not constitute an exception to curfew and intercity travel restrictions. In-person education will be suspended at all institutions including kindergarten, nursery, and grades 8 and 12, and all examinations will be postponed. Chain supermarkets will be closed on Sundays and will continue operations on other days during set hours. Rules will be enforced with utmost strictness to ensure the measures achieve their intended results, and any misuse of the measures will not be tolerated."
