Agreement of Significance for Turkey's Automotive Industry Signed

Following the signing of a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the United Kingdom and the EU during the Brexit process, a bilateral trade agreement between Turkey and the United Kingdom, which is of critical importance for Turkey's automotive industry, has also been signed. Ford Otosan General Manager Haydar Yenigün said: "We welcome with great satisfaction this important step taken to ensure uninterrupted commercial relations between Turkey and the United Kingdom. We extend our thanks to all those who contributed to this process, particularly Minister of Trade Ruhsar Pekcan, Deputy Ministers of Trade Gonca Yılmaz Batur and Rıza Tuna Turagay, Director General Hüsnü Dilemre, Deputy General Manager Atilla Bastırmacı and Department Head Elif Yücel Gürsoy, as well as UK Ambassador to Ankara Dominick Chilcott, UK Trade Commissioner Judith Slater and the UK Embassy Brexit Task Force. We believe the speed of agreement signature is an indicator of the strong economic ties between the two countries. As Ford and Ford Otosan, we currently handle more than 10 percent of this trade volume, and by ensuring the sustainability of this trade flow, we will continue to contribute to the prosperity of our countries in the coming period. With this agreement, which is of great importance for protecting the reputation and competitive advantage of our automotive industry in the global arena, we believe that trade volume with the United Kingdom will grow even stronger in the coming period."
