Turkish Furniture Industry Targets $1 Billion in Exports to the US

Turkish furniture sector targets top five global exporters to the United States, which imports approximately USD 90 billion worth of furniture annually.

The Turkish furniture sector is preparing to participate in NeoCon Show, the United States' most prestigious furniture and design trade fair, scheduled for 9-11 June 2025 in Chicago, with the aim of increasing exports to the US from the current level of USD 300 million to USD 1 billion.

Ali Fuat Gürle, Chairman of Aegean Furniture, Paper and Forest Products Exporters Association, stated that they have previously supported Turkish furniture exporters' marketing activities through sectoral business delegations and now wish to elevate their support by organizing Turkey's National Participation at NeoCon Show.

Furniture exports to the US quadrupled over ten years

Gürle shared that Turkey's furniture exports to the US have increased approximately fourfold over the past ten years, rising from USD 85 million to USD 336 million. He stated: "Turkey and the United States bilateral trade volume reached USD 33.5 billion in 2023. The target to increase this figure to USD 100 billion has been put forward in mutual discussions between the governments of both countries. As the Turkish furniture sector, we are working to increase our furniture exports to the US to USD 1 billion as bilateral trade volume triples. Participation in NeoCon Show will be a driving force in achieving this target."

Turkish furniture exported to the US with 45 percent higher added value

Noting that Turkey's average furniture export price per kilogram is USD 3.26, Gürle continued: "As the Turkish furniture sector, we export 45 percent higher value-added products to the US. Our average export price for furniture exports to the US is USD 4.7 per kilogram. In this respect, the US market is a strong customer for us. We will continue taking steps in the coming years to strengthen this position."

Güngör: "Through NeoCon Show, we will be able to make long-term investments in the US market" 

Hikmet Güngör, Vice Chairman of Aegean Furniture, Paper and Forest Products Exporters Association, emphasized that they have decided to organize Turkey's National Participation with the belief that participation in NeoCon Show will enable Turkish furniture manufacturers to gain greater market share and make long-term investments in the US market. He shared information that among furniture imported by the US, wooden furniture, upholstered furniture, office furniture, outdoor and collaborative workspace furniture, healthcare furniture, hotel furniture, educational furniture, public space furniture and beds occupy important positions.

Emphasizing that the Turkish furniture sector has an increasingly growing structure in terms of production capacity, Güngör stated: "As the furniture sector, we provide comfort to human life at every point where life exists—in homes, workplaces, tourism facilities and hospitals. The Turkish furniture sector, with its quality production and design capabilities, is positioned to meet America's demands. Turkey's high-quality production and competitive prices provide a significant advantage in meeting the needs of large markets such as the US. By increasing our production capacity and providing innovative solutions, we can strengthen our potential to respond to market demands in the US. Events like NeoCon Show offer a perfect opportunity to further develop this capacity and use it more effectively through the right business partnerships.
