AKMİB Achieved USD 401 Million in Exports
Mediterranean Chemical Substances and Products Exporters Association (AKMİB) Chairman of the Board Saadettin Çağan announced that in October, with USD 401 million in exports, they realized 28 percent of AKİB's total exports.
Noting that in the 10th month of the year they achieved the highest export values in the Netherlands, United States and Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus markets, AKMİB Chairman Saadettin Çağan stated that they obtained the strongest growth in export volume in the Morocco, United States and France markets.
Chairman Saadettin Çağan, stating that Turkey's chemical sector's October exports were USD 2.6 billion, up 15.4 percent compared to the same period last year, and that AKMİB contributed 15.3 percent to this performance, made the following remarks on the subject:
"Changes in the global economy are directly affecting our sector in a period where currency fluctuations, increases in energy costs, sharp movements in commodity prices, and the effects of the war between Russia and Ukraine continue. In this challenging period, particularly energy costs stand before us as our sector's biggest challenge. There is price decline in some raw materials, but the problems we face in accessing financing limit our room for maneuver in these areas as well. More accessible financing and ensuring cash flow, creating a predictable environment will increase our competitive strength. We expect support for our exporters to be increased in this direction."
