Clariant Wins Henkel and ICIS Awards for Innovation and Sustainability
Clariant's commitment to innovation and sustainability has been recognized with awards from Henkel and ICIS. Clariant, a focused, sustainable and innovative specialty chemicals company, recently announced that it has been honored with multiple top-tier awards in the fields of sustainability and innovation.
Henkel Adhesive Technologies presented Clariant with the 2020 Sustainability Award. Additionally, Clariant won in two categories in this year's ICIS Innovation Awards. Clariant's multipurpose additive Licocare® RBW Vita, derived from rice bran wax, won the "Best Product" award, and the ammonia synthesis catalyst AmoMax™-Casale, jointly developed with Casale SA, succeeded in winning the "Best Sustainable Process" award.
Hans Bohnen, Chief Operating Officer of Clariant, said: "As both innovation and sustainability are among Clariant's strategic pillars, I am very proud to see our teams' efforts recognized by our business partner Henkel and by the leading industry publication at ICIS. This demonstrates that we are on the right path in our transformation into a leading specialty chemicals company."
Clariant was honored with the Henkel Sustainability Award 2020 for being an outstanding external business partner to Henkel Adhesive Technologies and supporting it in delivering higher value, better performance and a lower environmental footprint to its customers. One of the highlights of the partnership was a customized Clariant Sustainability webinar for Henkel's R&D, Procurement, Regulatory and Sustainability teams.
This event, attended by more than 100 Henkel employees across three regions, signaled an innovative collaboration approach between the two companies and was rated as highly valuable by all participants.
Additionally, Clariant's exceptional EcoVadis score and the transparency of its materials' carbon footprint, particularly Licocene® TERRA and Exolit® TERRA which use renewable raw materials, made a clear difference. Christian Kirsten, Corporate Senior Vice President and Global Head of the Automotive and Metal Business Unit at Henkel, said: "Sustainability has become a mega trend in the diverse markets we serve, and we are seeing a significant increase in customer demand for solutions related to CO2 reduction, circular economy and health and safety." He added: "Clariant has demonstrated strong commitment to supporting our targets and growing further with sustainable solutions." The ICIS Innovation Awards recognize and reward companies that pioneer product, process and sustainability innovations in the chemical industry. Licocare® RBW Vita waxes, derived from rice bran wax, a multipurpose additive range, won the "Best Product" award. Sourced from waste streams resulting from rice bran oil production, this product becomes a sustainable alternative to fossil-based waxes and delivers added value in technical applications. Furthermore, the ammonia synthesis catalyst AmoMax™-Casale was deemed worthy of the "Best Sustainable Process" award. AmoMax™-Casale, developed through a joint, multidisciplinary effort by Clariant and Casale, is a specialized evolution of Clariant's industry-proven AmoMax™ 10 series. Its enhanced performance means that facility operators can significantly reduce their energy consumption.
