Lubrizol Launches New PUD Technology for Wood Coating Protection

Lubrizol announced the launch of a new waterborne, high-solids polyurethane dispersion (PUD) that enables the formulation of advanced, high-performance wood coatings, as part of its ongoing commitment to polymer technology innovation.
Lubrizol, as part of its continued commitment to polymer technology innovation, has introduced a new water-based, high-solids polyurethane dispersion (PUD) that enables the formulation of advanced, high-performance wood coatings.
Sancure™ 942 Polyurethane Dispersion is a versatile new polymer designed for residential and commercial wood floor coatings as well as OEM wood coatings. It offers superior protection against abrasion, excellent chemical resistance properties that enhance durability, and strong adhesion to multiple substrates, making it suitable for a wide range of applications.
As a high-solids product, it enables formulations that provide greater coverage per unit volume; this reduces the number of coats required for desired performance and accelerates return-to-service time. The performance properties of Sancure 942 Polyurethane Dispersion are further enhanced when used with external crosslinkers.
Israel Skoff, Technical Marketing Manager for Resin Technologies, explained, "The entire value chain will benefit from this innovation. Coating manufacturers will see superior protection capabilities compared to many solvent-based predecessors, and shipping emissions will decrease thanks to lower water levels. Applicators will experience improved efficiency and safety with a versatile product for multiple substrates and a safer product requiring fewer coats. End users will enjoy the benefits of reduced labor costs, faster return-to-service, and exceptional durability."
